In fact, before someone settles into their new rental, chances are good that carpenter ants have already made themselves at home. Making matters worse, carpenter ants usually make their nests very near any food source they find. In fact, the workers of these colonies excavate the wood in homes to create areas for these nests and other needs. They will also build their nests in enclosed areas such as eaves and wall voids.
Cockroaches and More
Unfortunately, carpenter ants have some competition when they learn that there is food close by. These are cockroaches. Cockroaches, just as is the case with many pests, make finding food nearby a huge priority. This is why it is so common that food service establishments be on the lookout for cockroaches. Despite this, homeowners should also exercise great care in their food storage and preparation to prevent problems from cockroaches.
There are generally two types of cockroaches that live in this area. There is the larger American cockroach, as well as the smaller German cockroach. Both of these pests will find their way into a home by any method they can, including inside shipments, or just making their way in any opening. Regardless, you should exercise extreme caution that they not be allowed to become a problem…and they will if not stopped.
Ants, Mice, and Bedbugs
Ants, mice, and bedbugs can be a big problem in the Vancouver area. Fortunately, with the right advice on how to recognize these problems when they start and understanding how to prevent and get rid of them, you should have no trouble controlling these problems in your rental. Good exterminators are available throughout the Vancouver area. These professionals have not only the equipment, but the experience to deal with these pests effectively. The two-legged pests are your problem.
